Updates and refreshes
How Seovyn keeps published articles working: refreshing pages that slip or sit just off page one, rewriting search snippets that are seen but not clicked, and linking older articles to new ones.
Publishing is the start, not the end. Once articles are live, Seovyn looks after them in three ways, most of them guided by what Search Console reports. None of them uses your monthly article allowance. Content refreshes and new search snippets are on the Pro and Scale plans; links from older articles work on every plan.
Content refreshes
Once a week, Seovyn looks for live articles that would gain most from a stronger version, in this order:
- Slipping. Clicks over the last 28 days fell by more than 40% from the 28 days before (and there were at least 10 to begin with).
- Close to page one. An average position between 8 and 20, with at least 50 impressions: the quickest way to more clicks.
- Old. Published more than 180 days ago.
It refreshes up to two articles a week, and leaves each one alone for 90 days after a refresh. A refresh researches the topic again from scratch, briefed with the searches the page actually shows up for in Search Console, and goes through the full quality check like a new article.
Refreshes start once you have 20 live articles: on a smaller site, a new article is a better use of the effort.
New search snippets
Some pages already rank on page one but earn far fewer clicks than pages in that position usually do. The article is fine; the title and description people see in Google aren't doing their job. Once a week, Seovyn looks for pages on page one with at least 300 impressions whose click-through rate is below 60% of what their position typically earns, and writes a new title and description from the searches the page actually shows for. Up to two a week.
Every rewrite is measured: about a month later, Seovyn compares the page's click-through rate with what's expected for its position. If the last three measured rewrites didn't raise it, Seovyn stops rewriting snippets on your site. Your snippets aren't the problem there.
Reviewing an update
A refresh or a new snippet doesn't change your live page by itself. It waits, like a draft:
- The article shows Update ready in the Library, Results lists it under Updates waiting for you, and you're notified.
- Open it, and the review drawer shows the update: A better search snippet is ready (only the title and description change; the article stays the same) or An updated version is ready. Show live version and Preview update switch between the two.
- Publish update republishes the same address on your destination and tells search engines it changed. Discard leaves the live page exactly as it is.
On autopilot, an update that clears the same bars as a new article publishes itself after the hold window, unless you decide first. The drawer says when.
Links from older articles
When an article is confirmed live, Seovyn finds older articles on related topics and adds a link to the new one, on up to three of them (up to eight inside a topic cluster). The activity feed lists it as Internal links added. New pages get found, and visitors move between related articles.
