What is Click-through rate (CTR)?
Click-through rate is the share of people who see your result in search and click it: clicks divided by impressions.
Updated
Click-through rate, or CTR, is clicks divided by impressions, shown as a percentage. If your page appeared 1,000 times and was clicked 30 times, its CTR is 3%.
What affects it
- Position. Higher results get far more clicks.
- The title and description. What the searcher reads before deciding. See title tag and meta description.
- Rich results, like ratings or FAQs, which take more space.
- The query itself. A search with an obvious answer may get no clicks at all.
Using it
In Search Console, a page with many impressions but a low CTR is a good candidate for a better title and description. Compare against pages at a similar position, not against a number from the internet: CTR varies a lot by query type.
Seovyn shows each published article's clicks and impressions once Search Console is connected.
