What is Pillar page?
A pillar page is a comprehensive guide to a broad topic that links to more detailed pages on each of its subtopics.
Updated
A pillar page is the hub of a topic cluster: one authoritative page that covers a broad subject at a high level and links out to detailed articles on each part of it.
What it contains
- A clear overview of the topic, in the order a newcomer needs it.
- A short section on each subtopic, with a link to the full article.
- Navigation to help readers find their way.
What it's for
It targets the broad term and gives the cluster pages something to link back to. Good ones are easy to scan and genuinely useful, not a long page padded to hit a word count.
A note on length
Pillar pages tend to be long, but length isn't the goal; completeness is. Cover what a reader needs and point to the detail.
Seovyn links related articles to each other as they go live, which builds the cluster over time.
